Have you ever wondered how dating in the U.S. differs from dating in Europe? Are there any differences at all? If yes, then how serious are they? In this article, we take a look at the uniqueness around the topic of dating in these two regions. Let’s take a look.
1. Who pays for dates?
In the American culture, you would assume it is the guy that pays for the date if not all the time then at least most of the time. In Western Europe, the bill is usually split and in Eastern-Europe, it is a mixture of the two. When you take girls out in Europe, don’t try always to be the one that pays because it will put the ladies off – you will come across far too conservative for modern Europeans.
2. Dating more than one person?
If you are newly back on the dating market in the United States, it isn’t all that unordinary to find that people go out with several people at the same time. It is casual dating, and it is typically fully accepted. In Europe, though, this behaviour is more frowned upon than accepted. A relationship can become exclusive fast.
3. The Dating Game
This phrase is virtually nonexistent in Europe. Dating isn’t viewed as a game, and there is less flirting as well. When a European girl flirts with you, you can be sure that she is interested in you. If you get no response it does not mean that you need to try harder – it’s the opposite. You need to back off because she just isn’t into it.
4. Casual approach.
Dating is much more stress-free in Europe since people don’t put a lot of pressure on themselves or each other. A first date is like a couple of friends hanging out, the atmosphere is relaxed, and you just have fun. There are far fewer expectations involved. In the States, the first date needs to go 100% because people assume they can tell the success of a relationship based on that.
